Al-Quran
And they serve beside Allah what can neither harm them nor profit them, and they say: These are our intercessors withAllah. Say: Do you (presume to) inform Allah of what Heknows not in the heavens and the earth? Glory be to Him, andsupremely exalted is He above what they set up (with Him). Al-Quran [Yunus (Jonah) Surah:10 - Verse:18]
Al-Hadith
Narrated Ibn-e-Umar:
Allah's Messenger Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said: Islam is based on the following five principles:
1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle.
2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly.
3. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity).
4. To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca)
5. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan.
